Alison Rice - Associate
Life with LiveTourism
Alison’s the famous one. You’ve probably seen her talking about tourism issues on BBC Breakfast, BBC News and Sky News. Or heard her pontificating on Radio 4 or 5 Live. She’s our media maid and she doesn’t mince her words when she meets our workshop clients. She tells the truth about how journalists work these days and why she has probably never read your press release.
Life before LiveTourism
Alison is one of the UK’s foremost travel journalists and broadcasters. She has produced and presented television and radio travel series for BBC, ITV and BSkyB and won awards for her writing in national newspapers.
Former posts include Director of Programmes for the television Travel Channel, Editor of BBC Holidays magazine and Associate Lecturer in tourism and the media at the University of the Arts.
Her work as an editor and consultant includes projects for VisitBritain, Tourism Concern, Travel Counsellors and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Alison has been a judge for over ten years for the finals of the Enjoy England Excellence awards and a previous editor of the daily Britain Calling features for VisitBritain’s international media sites. She is now much in demand as a speaker on tourism issues and for workshops on how to write more effectively.
